We Support The Girls aims to do numerous community events a year
In February we held a community awareness event at W&L HS Breaking the Silence
In April we hosted 2 Darkness to Light Stewards of Children training sessions
May WSTG participated in the FCC Memorial Day Parade - 25 people marched in the parade to raise awareness
In the fall we hope to host another community awareness event
We Support The Girls would like to increase the number of support packages provided to victims of child sexual abuse
We need help with Fundraising to cover the cost of the support packages and help
writing letters to companies for donations
We also are in need of volunteers willing to distributing information about Erin's Law to members of the community and encourage peole to write to their local representative
We are in need of help from people with Grant writing experience as we attempt to approach Foundations for much needed funding
Community outreach - manning a table at Farmers Markets, engaging with community members
Helping to arrange and manage a fund raising event in the fall

Mission Statement
We SUPPORT the GIRLS is on a mission to: Raise child sexual abuse awareness Encourage parents to talk with their children at an early age about child sexual abuse Encourage victims and their parents to report child sexual abuse Emphasize to communities how vital a climate free from stigma is when reporting child sexual abuse Promotes acces to educational materials and additional resources for parents and schools Raise funds to provide care packages and comfort items to local agencies for children reporting sexual abuse, undergoing examination at a hospital for child sexual abuse, and testifying in court regarding their sexual abuse Work with other charitable organizations to help victims of child sexual abuse
Description
We Support The Girls is a grass-roots non-for profit, established in January 2016. It is dedicated to providing support to child victims of sexual abuse, and increasing public awreness regarding child sexual abuse, beginning with local community, state and eventually nationwide. We Support The Girls is committed to providing access to information by maintaining a website with links to resources and organizations that support child victims and their parent/families. We Support The Girls is a staunch supporter of the need for age appropriate child sexual abuse prevention education in the schools as well as at home to help protect children from sexual abuse and if abuse occurs, to recognize what has happened and to report the incident as soon as possible to the proper authorities. We Support The Girls advocates for Erin's Law to be passed in the state of Virginia and for every child to know the five safe body rules before their fifth birthday.
