The NorthPoint Mobile Food Shelf brings food out to communities that are not able to come to NorthPoint for our on-site Food Shelf. Along with providing food, we also provide health screenings and nutrition education. At two of the locations, we would like a volunteer to assist our Dietitian with providing the nutrition education the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month 12:30pm-3:30pm.
As a Nutrition Education Volunteer, you can also help with monthly Cooking Demonstrations at our Human Services buildings; these events take place the last Wednesday of the month 11:30am-1:30pm.
In the summer we also have Produce Distributions/Outdoor Markets about every other Friday morning 8am-12pm and we provide a Cooking Demonstration and hand out samples to about 250 participants. The dates are 6/1, 6/15, 6/29, 7/6, 7/20, 8/3, 8/17, 8/31, 9/7 and 9/21.
We ask our volunteers to make a regularly-scheduled monthly commitment or more.

Description
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is a comprehensive health and human services agency located in the heart of North Minneapolis. NorthPoint is comprised of two organizations: a community services nonprofit with a broad array of social and human services (NorthPoint Inc.); and a full service community health center (NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center) that includes medical, dental and behavioral health clinics. NorthPoint seeks to reduce health disparities, improve health outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of life for all residents of North Minneapolis by providing high quality medical, dental and behavioral health care, along with integrated social services such as its food shelf, housing resources and domestic violence services -- with respect, dignity and sensitivity to a culturally rich and ethnically diverse community.
