The Salvation Army Summer Day Camp program is looking for individuals that have current lifeguard and CPR certification and are willing to volunteer for 3 hours so that campers can enjoy our amazing shorelines and beaches.
Work cooperatively with Camp Counselors ensuring the safety of campers when they are in or around the water and respond to emergency situations.
Responsibilities would include:
- Check the area for the physical safety of the campers. This also includes rip tide warnings, hazardous flags, wind and wave reports.
- Oversee children as they swim.
- Supervise aquatic observers, camp counselors that keep eyes on the children. We have 1 adult per 10 children.
- Conduct Buddy-Checks every 5 minutes making an account of every child and logging the numbers/times in the log book.
- Perform lifesaving skills if needed.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
- Eliminate hazardous situations or behaviors.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid or equivalent.
Must pass all applicable background checks.
