Mission Statement
NACAC promotes and supports permanent families for children and youth in the U.S. and Canada--especially children and youth who are or have been in foster care and those with special needs.
Description
The North American Council of Adoptable Children (NACAC) exists because every child should have a permanent, loving family. For more than 40 years, NACAC has been committed to meeting the needs of these waiting children and the families who adopt them. Through advocacy, education, adoption support, and leadership development in the U.S. and Canada, NACAC helps to reform systems, alter viewpoints, and change lives.
In Minnesota, NACAC operates the Adoption Support Network (ASN). This peer-to-peer support network brings together experienced adoptive parents-trained on key adoption issues, the effects of trauma, and how to provide support-to help parents new to adoption or struggling with the challenges their children face. We offer one-on-one support by phone, email, or in person; host in-person support groups; provide support and training events for families; and moderate a private Facebook group for adoptive parents statewide.
