Help make a measurable difference in the lives of refugees and new immigrants. We are looking for an ESL Writing Class Teacher on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:00 am.

Activities include helping students improve their writing skills, complete worksheets, and do other literacy-related learning activities.

Our students are highly motivated and grateful for your help. Join us in making a difference in the community!

No previous experience is required.

Commitment is only 1 hour a week (for a minimum of 3 months).

Curriculum is provided, and a training course will be offered through the Minnesota Literacy Council.

No foreign language proficiency is required.

Why join us?

We fight against the poverty cycle by coaching literacy skills to our motivated adult ESL students. These language skills will not only open doors for employment, but will also allow students to be better advocates for their families, navigate through resources available to them, and dismantle the isolation that holds many within the cycle of poverty. Our curriculum is practical. Our staff is invested, and our students are inclusive. We are a motivated community and we celebrate diversity. At Open Door, you’ll meet lovely people from around the world, and as a tutor you will help give them the tools they need to share their amazing stories.
