Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and WakeMed Health and Hospitals are collaborating on year three of the WakeMed Farmers’ Market, held in the central courtyard of the hospital’s Raleigh Campus. The market is strategically located in the Southeast Raleigh food desert to increase access to fresh, healthy food in an area where affordable produce is often hard to find. This unique market offers 2 for 1 market match vouchers for those who are receiving supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) benefits.

We are in need of a volunteer to act as the Food Shuttle Ambassador at the WakeMed Market. The volunteer will be responsible for processing and reocrding market customers' SNAP payments. The position involved record keeping in Excel and routine communication between farmer vendors, WakeMed staff, and Food Shuttle employees. The volunteer will also provide interested customers with information about the Food Shuttle's various nutrition and agriculture programs.

Day/Times: Every Tuesday from July 11th through August 28th from 9:30 AM to 2 PM

Commitment: Weekly

Requirements: Desire to be outdoors, outgoing personality, enjoys farmers markets and knowledgably about the Food Shuttle’s various outreach programs. Basic knowledge of Excel and use of email is necessary.

Minimum Age: 18 years old

Scheduling: Volunteers may schedule a training session with IFFS between June 26 - 28 and July 5 - 7. Please contact Volunteer Manager at volunteers@foodshuttle.org if interested.
