Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere to develop communities with God's people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended. The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to make affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Description
North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical organization that strengthens communities by providing decent and affordable housing. This affiliate was founded in 1986 and, as of2017, has provided 44 homes to hard-working, deserving families.
Habitat for Humanity does not give away free homes; instead, we partner with willing families in need and build homes together. Partner families have to put in a certain number of Sweat Equity hours based on their family size, and also pay an interest-free mortgage on their homes. Volunteers provide most of our labor in constructing homes.
Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization, but it is also an ecumenical, community-oriented organization. We invite people of all faiths to help strengthen communites and give a hand-up to deserving families.
