Tutors work one-on-one with students

Calling all volunteers (age 50+)! tutor a child in grades 1-3 twice a week in San Rafael.
Empowering Children Bay Area inspires and empowers adults age 50 and older to serve in their community by making a lasting difference in a student's life. By volunteering as a reading tutor, you can help change a child's future. You provide the life experience. We'll provide the training and support.

ECBA Tutors will be trained on a half hour structured tutoring session and meet with the student twice a week.

Requirements:

- Photo ID
- Online Application
- Orientation and Training

  • grade
  • days of the week and time of day
  • tutoring approach 1on1.

Mission Statement

Empowering Children Bay Area (ECBA), recruits, trains and places older adults (50+) into elementary schools for literacy tutoring. We have sites in Marin San Francisco and Sonoma. Onboarding entails a fingerprinting process and a quick zoom training. Help bring children up to grade level all the while meeting peers and enjoying a community of tutors with like minds and interests. Check out our website at sequoialiving.org/kids.

Description

Experience Corps Bay Area in partnership with Sequoia Living and AARP Experience Corps is an inter-generational volunteer-based tutoring program that is proven to help children who aren't reading at grade level become great readers by the end of third grade. We inspire and empower adults 50 and older to serve in their community and disrupt the cycle of poverty by making a lasting difference in the lives of America's most vulnerable children.
