Would you like to help youth learn to live independently!? If so, please join Journey and Lighthouse Youth Services on Friday, July 7th, at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center for Indepence City, a fun yet challenging simulation activity that gives youth and young adults ages 14-21, a glimpse into life as an adult. Youth will visit stations that represent real-life situations you may experience when living independently, exercise criticial thinking and problem solving skills, and learn how to access community resources.


We currently have 30 volunteers signed up, and are in need of approximately 40 - 60 more. If you know of people who might be interested in volunteering, PLEASE encourage them to sign up ASAP on the following link: www.volunteersignup.org/83KPJ . You can also find out more about the specific volunteer opportunities available on the website listed above.

Our greatest needs are the following: City Guides, Station Characters and Orientation & Debrief Facilitators. These roles require that individuals attend one of three orientation dates:

Monday, June 26, 2017

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 5

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Volunteer Orientation will be held at the Hamilton County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, 2350 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

The mission of Lighthouse Youth & Family Services is to empower young people and families to succeed through a continuum of care that promotes healing and growth.

Description

Lighthouse Youth & Family Services helps young people in need heal and grow.

Lighthouse offers an integrated system of care for youth ages 0-24, including emergency shelter, foster care and adoption, mental and behavioral health services, residential treatment., community juvenile justice services, youth housing, and OhioRISE, a specialized managed care program for youth with complex behavioral health and multisystem needs. The Lighthouse team meets the individual needs of each young person and focuses on their strengths as they work to meet their goals. Lighthouse provides inclusive and affirming care for all young people, and every young person and family are treated with dignity and respect.

Leading the effort to end youth homelessness in Cincinnati, Lighthouse is the only local organization focused on serving young people experiencing homelessness and provides Cincinnati’s first and only local emergency shelter for ages 10-17.

Every night, approximately 400 young people sleep under a Lighthouse roof.
