About this Job
Understanding Disabilities Inc., a leader in disability awareness, is looking for an organized and self-starting individual to administer our school programming. The Program Leader is responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, leading workshops in elementary schools, and training others to lead workshops. The successful candidate will have good organization and communication skills, the aptitude for detail and follow through, the ability to work independently and prioritize changing schedules.
Understanding Disabilities is instrumental in helping shape a culture of inclusion and respect in our schools. In addition to the personal satisfaction and rewards of contributing to the development of our children and community, this position provides the successful candidate interaction with children, teachers, and administrators, as well as exposure to a non-profit org. Hours vary from 15-20/week late August through mid-June, most during the school day. Renewable contract.

Description
Understanding Disabilities, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that serves all students in the Reading public schools and the Reading community at large. Our mission is to educate children about disabilities to help them see beyond people's disabilities and to focus on the ways we are all the same inside.
Celebrating 31 years in the schools, we highlight all that people with disabilities can do and we promote a culture of inclusion and respect. Our curriculum provides information about a range of physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities to improve students’ school, social, and learning experiences. All students benefit from UD programming, but none more than those with disabilities.
