General Description: Planned Parenthood is seeking an experienced video ethnographer to conduct open-ended, semi-structured and informal interviews with women of color abortion patients candidly telling their stories and feelings about Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs), in consideration and with reflection upon of histories of coercion and unauthorized sterilizations.

Ideally, the intern will capture an estimated two hours of footage, perform a qualitative analysis of the interviews, and edit to a 3-5 minute video.

The project has the overarching goal of increasing qualitative patient experience data and providing dynamic training and education tools to assist in closing health equity disparity gaps and improving patient health by building patient/provider trust. This is a new project, and we will look to this intern to help gather and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Skills intern can expect to develop/obtain:
- Patient interviewing/ethnography experience
- video editing
- qualitative data analysis
- collaboration and relationship building skills
- experience producing training and educational materials
- possible publication in a scientific journal.
Required:
-Thorough understanding of HIPAA compliance and informed consent, including confidentiality requirements
-Video and sound editing experience
-Verbal and written documentation of progress
-Assurance that ethnographic data is coordinated with data collection protocols
-Time flexibility to schedule interviews based on PPMNS patient availability
-Reliability and adherence to honor all scheduled appointments
-Basic understanding of the history of reproductive rights of women of color in the US and its pertinence to health equity
-Internship contingent upon successful completion of criminal background check

Strongly Preferred:
-Experience conducting open-ended, semi-structured, and informal interviews with a sensitive and respectful nature
-Preparing qualitative data for analysis
-Willingness to participate if needed in training/presentation of the final video to PPMNS staff
-Having own camera and editing software or access to their college or university’s
