Be a spark of hope for youth and young adults

Crisis Support Services of Alameda County now has a Text Line so that youth and young adults in Alameda county, CA can have a safe, supportive, and confidential place to text with a trained crisis counselor. Texts are answered by awesome volunteers like you!

No experience necessary. We teach you crisis counseling skills via text messaging in a supportive environment. The comprehensive training includes supportive listening, suicide prevention, crisis best practices, and much more. Guaranteed you will also gain new friends, new skills, and grow personally. All activities happen on site at our north Oakland offices. Training happens in classes as well as on live shifts with a trainer. Once trained, we ask for a year commitment of volunteer shifts. Description

Crisis Support Services of Alameda County is a 24-hour telephone counseling service responding to over 50,000 calls annually. Other programs include: a grief counseling project, a senior program, a suicide attempters group, and a community education program.
