The Coronado Hotel is an affordable Single Room Occupancy building in the Tenderloin for people who have experienced homelessness. There are mental health staff and case management on site to help tenants further into stability and on to their own full apartment if possible.
Many of our tenants spend the majority if their time in their room because they either don’t know what else to do, or can’t afford anything else. That’s why we offer a free stretching and light exercise class every Wednesday at 4:00. Right now the class is taught by a dedicated volutneer, but we're looking for someone to share the responsibility. It's a great class to teach, with appreciative students!
I’m looking for volunteers able to commit to teaching one class a month.
You don’t need any professional qualifications or serious exercise experience. You do need the ability to Google exercises for elderly people, high energy and positive vibes to engage with people while you stretch/exercise, and comfort with standing in front of a small group.
This is a really great opportunity to engage with your community in a friendly environment. Please email maggiekcats@gmail.com if you’re interested and you can come sit-in on an exercise class that our current regular volunteer leads to make sure it’s a good fit.
Thanks!
