DESCRIPTION
The Building Skills Partnership is a statewide non-profit training collaboration between the California janitors’ union, SEIU-USWW, leading building service employers, and the broader community. BSP develops innovative leadership and education programs to increase the skills, opportunities and self-sufficiency of low-wage building service workers, their families, and communities. BSP seeks a Computer Skills Instructor for a Computer class in San Jose, CA. The Computer Class Instructor will be working closely with members of SEIU United Service Workers West (SEIU-USWW) and other immigrant community members.
Class will be Saturday mornings from 9:30am-11:30am for approximately 15 weeks beginning in Fall 2017.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach basic to advanced computer applications varying from simple keyboarding to different Windows Operating Systems, spreadsheets and other programs.
Create lesson plans, evaluate student performance, and give out assignments and projects.
Take part in developing and updating the curriculum.
Keep organized records of daily class attendance.
Some knowledge about computer hardware including installation and operation of CD-ROM's modems, printers, scanners and other peripheral equipment
Take charge of the computer lab, turning off computers at the end of each lesson and reporting when computers are not working properly.
Job Requirements:
A minimum of one year of experience in computer skills instruction or general Adult education preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required and state’s licensure exam in Computer Teaching preferred
Bilingual in Spanish/English, written and verbal.
Experience teaching immigrants and/or low-level learners preferred.
Must have reliable transportation
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Instructors are paid on an hourly basis. Rates are competitive and commensurate with experience.

The Building Skills Partnership (BSP) represents a unique non-profit collaboration between the property service workers’ union Service Employees International Union - United Service Workers West (SEIU- USWW), commercial building owners, property service employers, client companies and community leaders. BSP offers comprehensive programs tailored to the diverse needs of the community. Our core strategies leverage workforce development, immigrant integration, and community advancement. We have seven offices across the state of California from Sacramento to San Diego. Building Skills Partnership program areas and its curriculum play a key role in driving the productivity and competitiveness of the industry and contributing to the economic and social development of our communities throughout the state.
