Location:

Mission Statement

To provide safe shelter, independence, empowerment and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking while seeking to end violence against individuals and their families through promoting social change, community education and public awareness in our community.

Description

The LACADA help line and text line provide crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, their families, friends, other human serivce providers and the general public. The helpline and text line are answered by trained volunteers and staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. LACADA provides support groups for adults and children. Our groups offer a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment for individuals to share, learn and heal. All of our groups are drop in, come to as many or few as you'd like. LACADA runs the only domestic violence and sexual assault shelter in Lapeer County. The LACADA emergency shelter program offers safe housing, food, clothing, support and resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children. Survivors staying in the shelter receive personalized support services that include assistance with community resources, DV/SA education/information, housing options, safety planning and parenting support. LACADA offers support services and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence who are not in need of emergency shelter. This includes meeting with an advocate, crisis intervention, individual goal planning, preparing a safety plan, court accompaniment, housing resources, legal advocacy, support groups and connecting you to local resources. LACADA provides age-appropriate services to youth affected by domestic violence. LACADA's youth advocate works with children on self-esteem, coping skills and the transition into the emergency shelter.
