Do you want to help children see?
Be part of a program that brings clear vision to children and/or adults by volunteering at one of the Mobile Eye Clinics hosted by Los Angeles Public Library. This volunteer orientation provides training for volunteers helping at the Vision To Learn and/or UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic programs this summer.
You will be trained on how to conduct pre-screening eye exams, learn about the partnership programs, and be prepared to serve as an event attendant. The minimum time commitment following orientation will be either one or two days (4-5 hours/day) in July or August (volunteers will select shifts at the orientation). Mobile Eye Clinics will be held at various LAPL sites and volunteers will select their dates/locations at the orientation. The orientation site is not a Mobile Eye Clinic site.
Please register for the orientation through this link: http://www.laworks.com/HOC__Volunteer_Opportunity_Details_Page?id=a0CA000000oQiNh

Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Public Library provides free and easy access to information, ideas, books and technology that enrich, educate and empower every individual in our city's diverse communities.
Description
The Los Angeles Public Library is largest public research institution west of the Mississippi.
With more than 70 branch libraries and Central Library subject departments serving millions of Angelenos on a yearly basis, our programs are supported by thousands of volunteers in a variety of capacities. Whether providing one on one literacy tutoring, cutting out craft supplies for story time activities, helping serve summer lunch at the library, or serving as a Friend of the Library, all volunteers play a role in the work of LAPL.
If you would like to volunteer, but don't see a listing that matches your interests, please contact your local branch or the Volunteer Engagement Office. Opportunities and needs vary by location and fluctuate throughout the year.
Please note that the minimum age for volunteers is 14 (with the exception of 11-13-year-olds joining Teen Councils), minimum time commitments are required for most opportunities, adult volunteers working with children will be fingerprinted, and LAPL does not accept court-mandated community service.
