Bakers On Call (Baking for Warriors):
Wounded, ill, or injured warriors from area military hospitals come to the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run to relax, rejuvenate, and reconnect with family and their support system while undergoing medical treatments that can take years. Serve Our Willing Warriors (SOWW) strives to create a "home away from home" for these warriors with personal touches and tokens of our community's gratitude for their service.


Bakers On Call lovingly create homemade delicious desserts for each warrior visit, which are waiting for them when they arrive at the Retreat! Sometimes it is a birthday cake to help them celebrate while they are there, other times, it is a batch of their favorite cookies or a pie.

How can someone get involved in baking for such a great cause? Bakers self- schedule (via a SOWW SignUp Genius) for weekends that are convenient for you! A member from the Guest Services Team will contact you a week prior to the arrival date to provide number of people in the guest stay, allergies, , likes, dislikes, etc. You will need to drop the baked goods off at the Retreat office on Thursday or Friday between 9am and 2pm.
