General Responsibilities: The Public Relations & Social Media Manager establishes and maintains a business working relationship with local newspaper journalists and/or editors in order to ensure periodic news reports about the festival. The Public Relations & Social Media Manager is responsible for preparing press releases to local newspapers, magazines, other periodicals, as well as radio and television spots, and social media sites, such as Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram, Twitter, Tumbler, & Pintrest. This person uses basic journalism techniques to write articles for publication using word processing applications, which are reviewed by the Director and/or Deputy Director before being forwarded to the media for publication

Specific Tasks:

  1. Attend committee meetings to report on matters of public information in periodicals and broadcasting media.
  2. Obtain input (photos, interview notes, etc.) from the Director and/or Deputy Director on artists recognized as "Festival Favorites" during the festival to create an "Artist Spotlight" profile article for publication in local newspapers. Direct personal or telephonic interviews with the recognized artists or written questionnaires may also be used to obtain pertinent information Deputy Director to load into the website.
  3. Regularly upload public media materials to Facebook and other social media sites.
  4. Shift in Information Booth

Downtown Mesa Festival of the Arts is a free event featuring unique artist creations, music and fun for the whole family.The 2017 - 2018 season events will be held on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month, October through April (14 total during 7 months). Event hours will remain 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
