Mentor

A peer mentor will help one or more of our clients on a one-on-one basis, meeting informally in person or via telephone. The mentor will navigate the pitfalls of life "on the outs" (outside of jail/prison), providing guidance and support to the mentee. The mentor will share their knowledge, experience, and advice on a variety of topics relating to adjusting to a drug-free, non-criminal lifestyle.

To be eligible, volunteers must have been previously incarcerated and/or successfully completed a certified gang diversion/intervention program, substance misuse (including AA/NA or other "rehab") program, or other CBT-based programs, and must not have participated in the harmful activity they overcame for at least one year.

Note: This volunteer position is for the Elk Grove/South Sacramento, California, area only.

Our mission is to reduce recidivism and lessen the burden on government by helping ex-offenders through personal development, career readiness, and success strategies. We offer a variety of programs to help adult and/or juvenile offenders re-integrate into the community following their release from a correctional facility.
