Are you looking for an opportunity to use your experience and skills to help low-income adults in Philadelphia access education and employment? Do you want to help lead an outcome-driven organization with a long track record of success to the next level of performance?

Community Learning Center’s (CLC) board of directors is looking for new members to commit to helping CLC change lives. Founded in 1987, CLC is a nonprofit adult literacy and workforce development organization with locations in North and West Philadelphia and is one of the top-performing adult education providers in the region. CLC strives to make Philadelphia a city where all adults have the education and employment they need to thrive. CLC provides free classes, career coaching, and support services that enable low-income adults to earn their high school equivalency diploma, and/or learn English, and gain employment. This is a significant time for CLC, as we celebrate our 30 th anniversary and prepare to expand services and programming to increase impact in Philadelphia.

CLC Board members set the strategic direction of CLC and work with the Executive Director to ensure the organization has the resources it needs to effectively carry out its mission. Every board member plays an important fundraising role, stewarding and cultivating current and new donors, and are expected to contribute annually.

A successful candidate for the board is passionate about CLC’s mission, collegial, communicative, analytical, strategic, willing to fundraise and has the time to dedicate at least five hours per month to board service with CLC. Knowledge and experience in finance, accounting, marketing, communications, public relations, human resources, employment law, or organizational development is a plus. Representation from Philadelphia law firms, businesses and higher education also needed.
