2017 Hygiene Drive

Oklahoma City, OK- On Friday, June 30, The Education and Employment Ministry (TEEM) is set to launch its annual hygiene drive to collect essential hygiene products for Oklahoma men and women in the process of rebuilding their lives. This year’s theme is, A Hand Up Hygiene Drive.

"TEEM believes in providing a hand up, not a hand out. The hygiene program is one of the various supportive services designed to address the barriers many justice involved individuals face in establishing stability," said Haylie Webb, TEEM’s Volunteer and Building Services Coordinator.

Individuals returning to the community after a period of incarceration experience difficulty in securing food, housing, transportation, and the basic necessities of life. Hygiene items often become a luxury. TEEM strives to provide a fresh start for participants determined to overcome a troubled past.

Community Partners are the foundation of TEEM’s annual hygiene drive. Donation boxes are placed in various businesses and churches throughout the Oklahoma City area. Patrons who participate in this initiative collect hygiene items during the summer months.

"Oklahomans participated in record numbers during last year’s hygiene drive, collecting over 8,000 items and filing 618 hygiene packs," said Executive Director, Kris Steele. "This level of community support demonstrates the care and concern which is life changing for the individuals that TEEM serves."

A Hand Up Hygiene Drive runs June 30- August 30. Anyone interested in donating to the drive may view a list of requested items and collection stations at www.teem.org. To request a donation box and become an official collection station contact Haylie Webb at hwebb@teem.org or (405) 235-5671.

Mission Statement

The Education and Employment Ministry, also known as TEEM, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking cycles of incarceration and poverty through education, personal development, and work readiness training.

Description

WHAT WE DO

The Education and Employment Ministry, TEEM for short, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In the past 30 years, TEEM has served more than 15,000 individuals in our community. When founded in 1987, TEEM primarily served men with alcohol and substance abuse issues. Today, our emphasis is on giving a hand up to individuals re-entering society, through educational preparation, social services, and job training and placement.

We strive to provide our clients a second chance at success; in essence, a chance to redefine themselves by their gifts, skills, talents and passions, instead of a troubled past. All TEEM's services are free of charge to our clients.

TEEM takes a three-pronged approach to breaking cycles of incarceration and poverty in Oklahoma by providing individuals with education, social services, and job training and placement.

We holistically prepare our participants for employment by incorporating mentor ship, life skills training and confidence building into our program. By giving a hand up, we help our participants refine their skills and achieve their goals.
