Volunteer Fair Intern: Merlo Station High School (MSHS)
Purpose
To improve the partnership with MSHS by building a better Volunteer Fair Program
Description
This custom Volunteer Fair works to engage ALL students at MSHS by establishing relationships between Focus (homeroom) classes and a specific nonprofit at which the class will volunteer 3 times throughout the 2017 - 2018 school year. Last year’s MSHS Volunteer Fair was PI’s first and the school administration would love us to return. This position requires strong evaluative and research capabilities. Working closely with the school, nonprofits, and PI, this position will require flexible event planning capabilities.
Required Education
Recent graduate (within 1 year) of high school, college, or grad school.
Desired Skills
Previous event planning and business development is prefered
Detail oriented and conscientious note taken
Positive communication through email, phone, video, and face-to-face
Budgeting and planning
Enthusiastic about PI’s mission and team focused
Ability to remain calm in a high stress environment
Proficient in Google Drive (Particularly Google Forms and Google Sheets or MS Excel) Google Calendar, Meistertask, MindMeister, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and/or ability to learn technology at a fast pace
Objectives
Understand how the 2016 - 2017 partnership worked and all relevant Volunteer Fair details
Understand necessary details of 2017 - 2018 partnership
Create a proposal and have MSHS and PI confirm it
Communicate with MSHS, PI, and nonprofits to confirm transportation coordination and volunteer dates with nonprofits
Carry out the 2017 - 2018 MSHS Volunteer Fair
Support MSHS teacher and nonprofits for volunteer dates throughout the year
Evaluate the entire program
Complete an Internship Portfolio that includes a personal reflection and a presentation
Duties
Create a proposal
Establish goals and date timeline, create a budget, secure sponsors, provide all event information
Recruit and train nonprofits
Host the Volunteer Fair at MSHS
Organize nonprofit and class partnerships
Edit and solicit the evaluations to MSHS admin and teachers
Remind classes and nonprofits of upcoming volunteer dates
Compensation
PI will be paying a $630 stipend for travel and food October 10, 2017. Furthermore at the conclusion of the program on June 10, PI will be paying a stipend for communication of $210.
