ORGANIZATION: Special Olympics Southern California

This position is for interns interested in gaining practical experience in sports, community outreach, and non-profit organizations. The Young Athletes program benefits children with and without intellectual disabilities from ages two and a half to seven years old and their families. The Young Athletes and Families Intern will assist the Sports & Field Operations Department with hands-on support in planning, implementing, and tracking Young Athletes and Families initiatives, meetings, and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the expansion and management of program presentations, meetings, and trainings relating to Young Athletes and Families programs.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data relating to program participation and activities, including entry of YA Registration Forms in Games Management System and creating reports.
  • Facilitate planning and implementing events related to Young Athletes and Families, or other School Partnership Program initiatives for Special Olympics Southern California.
  • Perform general office management (i.e., data entry, filing, copying, faxing, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; attention to detail required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service attitude
  • Ability to work independently with scheduled regular contact with supervisor
  • Ability to travel to surrounding counties for events and projects
  • Must complete Volunteer Application (Class A), complete the Online Protective Behavior Course, and be cleared through the Background Check Screening process
