Fundraising Chairperson

Reporting to the President of the Board of Trustees, the position of Fundraising Chairperson serves as a member of the Board of Trustees, and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the Enright Melanoma Foundation (EMF).

Responsibilities:

  • Support and partner with the President, Executive Director and board members on all major fundraising initiatives
  • Actively work with the President, Board and Executive Director to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles, such as corporate/foundation giving (grants), individual giving, donor retention, new donor solicitation, event strategy, online giving campaign, and fee-for-service/licensing
  • To take the lead in certain types of outreach efforts, such as chairing a walk/race or gala committee, or hosting smaller fundraising events, etc.
  • To come with an extensive and established network of potential new donors.
  • To be responsible for involvement of all board members in fundraising, by making high-level connections, having board members make telephone calls to ask for support, and calls to thank donors for their contributions
  • Advise about research funding sources and trends to help position Enright Melanoma Foundation ahead of major funding changes or trends
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
  • Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the Fund Raising program
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources; chairing a major nonprofit fundraising event)
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
  • Ability to work independently , but also a team player who will productively engage with others within and outside Enright Melanoma Foundation
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • High energy and passion for Enright Melanoma Foundation’s mission is essential

Service on the Enright Melanoma Foundation’s Board of Trustees is without remuneration.

Founded in 1999, the Enright Melanoma Foundation is dedicated to the memory of Joseph E. Enright, MD, a Summit Medical Group (NJ) internist, who lost his battle with malignant melanoma at the early age of 37, leaving a wife and young children. We are unique in that our foundation is a doctor-led prevention-focused organization, created with knowledge and passion by Joe’s colleagues, to foster increased awareness of melanoma in our community.
