Be part of a small team to maintain the community plot dedicated to pantry donations for the entirety of the
growing season. Community growers would work as a team to cover weekly volunteer shifts to go visit the
community plot to water, weed, and harvest.
All food grown on the plot will be donated to local pantries.
Volunteer shifts can be completed when your schedules allows. RRI just asks you sign up consistently for
the shifts to help ensure someone from the team visits the land once a week to provide a strong presence
and ensure consistent donations to the pantry
Qualifications: A member of the local community who is passionate about urban sustainability and having
genuine relationships with other community members. You do not need to be a professional gardener for this
role, but have a drive for the true meaning of community.

Mission Statement
Growing deeper roots in urban sustainability for individuals and communities to live healthier lives.
Description
Renewed Roots Initiative is a volunteer-based nonprofit microfarm dedicated to increasing access to heirloom-quality, locally-sourced, and sustainably-grown foods to those that need it most.In addition to distributing high-quality produce to food pantries, markets, and restaurants, we provide educational programs, sponsor initiatives, and organize community events to advance our three principles: cultivating food equity, providing interactive education, and promoting environmental stewardship.
We have 3 current initiatives we run to impact our community:
1) Sponsored CSA - We partner with area organizations to identify individuals and families in need (primarily low-income seniors and refugees), and provide weekly home deliveries of fresh produce at no charge for the duration of the growing season (20 weeks)
2) Urban Orchard - Volunteer teams locate, monitor, and harvest fruit from edible foliage on public land to boost CSA and food pantry donations.
3) Community Garden - RRI is the only community garden in Aurora to provide on-site water, gardening resources (like tools and compost), and hands-on guidance to help new gardeners succeed. We also manage contributions from individual growers wishing to donate their excess harvest.
We are proud to call Aurora, Illinois home.
