At Make-A-Wish, we grant wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Our chapter is proud to grant more than 275 wishes to children each year!
Our 18th Annual Walk for Wishes event will take place on August 19, 2017 at the California State Capitol. This event brings together our Wish Kids, volunteers and community to raise funds for future wishes and celebrate the incredible wishes we have already granted together!
Events like this are only possible with the help of our dedicated volunteers! We are currently seeking volunteers to assist in a variety of roles throughout the event.
Our minimum volunteer age for the event is:
- Age 16 and over may volunteer independently
- Ages 13 - 15 are welcome to volunteer alongside a parent or guardian (who must supervise for the duration of the shift).
Dress Code:
- Set-up shifts may wear comfortable clothing and shoes
- Event shifts will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt, please pair this with family friendly shorts or pants with no tears and comfortable shoes
Food/Drink:
- Will be provided for all volunteers
Please direct any questions to our Volunteer Manager at nmenicucci@necannv.wish.org or 916-692-3929.
Thank you for helping make wishes come true!

Mission Statement
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Description
Our Make-A-Wish chapter grants one wish every three days in the Central California region. Volunteers throughout our chapter support our mission work in wish granting, special events, community relations, corporate fundraising, community awareness and other critical areas. Volunteers work in local communities by impacting the lives of Central California children. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available. It is important to note that during this time, we have made volunteer orientations and trainings readily available virtually for the health and safety of everyone.
Wish Granter
Wish Granters work in teams of two as a liaison between a wish family and Make-A-Wish. They help determine a child's wish and play an instrumental role in helping to turn the wish into reality. You must be at least 21 years old, complete Wish Granter training, and be able to make two or more visits to the family during the course of the wish process. Wish Visits have recently become available to do virtually as well.
