Position Overview: Our Place’s mission is to support adults with developmental disabilities so that they can live meaningful, productive, socially connected lives in their home community. Interns will work closely with staff members to provide programs that support Our Place’s mission.

Key Responsibilities: Working with our Program team, the general duties and responsibilities of an Intern include:
- Assist with planning and preparing programs for the day - i.e. planning craft/art projects, different activities for Interactive Games and Sports & Rec programs, creating prompts for Multimedia
- Independently leading enriching programs that are meaningful, engaging, and specifically designed the meet the individual needs and goals of our participants
- Assigned to co-work on a staff’s pod of participants, (something about helping with participants)
- Supervise volunteers during program (?? Since they will ideally have volunteers in their program that they’re running on their own)
- Implementing support systems as needed for participants
- Spending time with participants to build supportive relationships
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What to expect from us:
- In-program training
- Constant support and encouragement from all staff
- Bi-weekly meetings with supervisor
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills, be outgoing, energetic, and values collaboration and innovation. Ability to ask for help when needed
- Able to naturally engage in our programs and with our participants

Our primary goal is to enable every individual to achieve their highest potential. We do this by focusing on the skills needed for successful social interactions in all aspects of a full life. Our participants learn and practice these skills at work, with each other in social settings, with typical peers and community members, in classes and clubs, with service projects that improve the community and in recreational activities.
