Come help out with childcare for a fun, sweet group of 10-15 kids while their parents are in an Organizing Committee meeting!
By providing childcare on Thursdays from 6-8 PM over the summer months, you'll get to engage an awesome group of kids in play -- and ensure their parents are able to focus on the work of the Organizing Committee.
About Masa:
Masa is a non-profit organization that partners with Mexican and Latino children, youth and families to create strong learners and leaders who fully contribute to the broader community.
Volunteer Duties:
Childcare volunteers will engage with a group of students ages 18 months - 10 years old: play games, blocks, and trains; coloring and doing light art projects; and reading.
Volunteers should:
- Be available most Thursdays from 6-8 PM, from June 8th - August 31st
- Enjoy working with children
- Be flexible, creative, organized and able to respond to change as needed

The mission of Masa is to promote educational attainment, committed leadership and civic engagement among underserved students living in New York City with a particular focus on those of Mexican descent. Through a variety of civic and educational partnerships, Masa provides positive guidance and support for underserved youth and their families. We encourage program participants to strive to their fullest potential by setting and achieving academic goals in our tutoring and mentoring program. Furthermore, by fostering cultural and civic awareness, we empower a future generation of active and involved citizens.
Description
Masa provides after-school and mentorship services to students of Mexican descent living in or near the South Bronx. The organization relies heavily on the work of volunteers to serve the varied needs of students involved in the program.
