MacArthur Award-winning Lucky Plush Productions is an internationally touring dance-theater company that provokes, inspires, and entertains audiences through its layered choreography, surprising humor, and socially relevant storytelling. Since 2000, Lucky Plush has created 30 original dance-theater works including 14 evening-length productions. In addition to regularly performing in Chicago, the company has presented work in over 40 US cities from Maine to Hawaii, and its international partners span from New Zealand to Cuba.

Lucky Plush seeks a Treasurer for the Board of Directors to oversee the management and reporting of Lucky Plush’s finances. S upported by Lucky Plush’s Managing and Artistic Directors and Finance Manager, the Treasurer:

  • Oversees the financial aspects of Board decisions.

  • Oversees the creation of annual budgets which are presented to the board for members' approval.

  • Reviews monthly financial reports.

  • Ensures creation and board review of financial policies and procedures.

  • Works with chief executives to ensure that appropriate financial reports are prepared and made available to the Board on a timely basis.

  • Ensures that all financial reports are submitted to and as required by the federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Reviews and answers Board members’ questions about the audit.

  • Advises and monitors the investment of Lucky Plush’s reserve fund.

Lucky Plush’s board holds two-hour Board of Director meetings every other month (Feb, April, June, etc.). The treasurer will have opportunities to attend and participate in training courses, conferences, and seminars if interested.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in financial accounting for nonprofit organizations, including record keeping, accounting systems, and financial reports.

  • Knowledge and a personal commitment to uphold Lucky Plush’s principles, mission, goals, services, and the responsibilities and relationships of governance and management of paid and volunteer staff.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Timeliness in completing tasks.

  • Clear and accurate record keeping.

  • Available for occasional bi-weekly check-in calls.

  • Two year term commitment with the option to extend in order to meet the needs of the organization.

  • This is a volunteer position.

Presenting venues include Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (MA), Spoleto Festival/USA (SC), Portland Ovations (ME), ODC (CA), Maui Arts and Cultural Center (HI), Skirball Center (NYC), North Carolina State University (NC), Connecticut College (CT), and the Dance & Physical Theatre Trust of New Zealand, among others. Commissioning and presenting venues include the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Krannert Center at University of Illinois, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (MD), Flynn Center for the Performing Arts (VT), and Links Hall Chicago.
