Southern RI Volunteers Volunteer Recruitment & Practice Management VISTA

VISTA, Volunteers in Service to America- is the national service program that works to eliminate poverty. The AmeriCorps VISTA mission is to strengthen organizations through volunteering and the mobilization of resources. As a VISTA member, for one year, you will serve in a project identified and managed by the community while earning a modest living allowance that reflects the income level of the community where you are serving.

SRIV Program Description:

Southern Rhode Island Volunteers' mission is to enhance lives by inspiring, creating and supporting a lifelong culture of service through our volunteer members and affiliates across Southern RI.

SRIV's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Washington County is available to any person 55 years of age and up, who wants to give their time and energy to create a positive impact in their community. RSVP is a Senior Corps Program of the Corporation for the National Community Service. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is our federal grant funder, which provides a portion of the money that supports this program.

The mission of RSVP:

1. To ensure frail, home-bound, low-income seniors and adults with disabilities are able to live independently by providing programs that allow them to stay in their homes and age with dignity.

2. To provide local nonprofits, and community agencies, with a network of senior volunteers who will use their skills to support the needs of South County residents.

VISTA will:


1. Research best practices around senior volunteer recruitment

2. Continue to develop new plan for data retrieval from volunteers

3. Marketing; creating materials to give out to interested parties

4. Creating/ researching/ perfecting Volunteer Reporter or other volunteer database system

All activities will be done with any and all assistance need from RSVP director.
