Walnut Creek Village is one of a group of 200 established and 150 developing Villages throughout the country. Our purpose is to help seniors with services and social connections that supplement their interactions with family and friends. The goal is to have our seniors stay in their own homes as long as possible. We provide volunteers to assist with driving, gardening, pet sitting, and other small tasks that become harder to handle as we age. We also provide referrals to professionals for hire to do more substantial jobs or tasks that require licensing or other certifications.

Rather than a physical location where people live, a Village is a dynamic, virtual association of people helping one another to age in place.

Walnut Creek Village is still in the development stage, with an opening date of September 25, 2017. We partner with other local Villages - Lamorinda, Clayton, Ashby (in Berkeley) - to pool resources for finding preferred providers and training for volunteers. We are looking for a Communications Specialist volunteer to join our team.

The Communications Specialist is a member of the Marketing/Communications Team and assists with projects as assigned. Ongoing responsibilities support the Newsletter Editor as directed.

The Communications Specialist will work from home using telephone and computer. There will be regular communication with the Newsletter Editor and occasional meetings and events with other Marketing/Communication Team members, committee members, and volunteers. Candidates should reside in the greater Walnut Creek area.
