360 Communities mission statement is: "360 Communities delivers safety and stability that improves lives." We are looking for a few volunteers who are interested in supporting our Mission Statement as a Court Advocate Volunteer.
Our Court Advocate Volunteers help support women who are survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault when they attend court hearings. These hearings are held Monday through Friday during business hours. We are looking for individuals with initiative, good communication skills, and empathy. A Court Advocate Volunteer must have a flexible daytime schedule, and be willing to attend court hearings in three courthouses: West St. Paul, Apple Valley, and Hastings. An understanding of the civil/criminal justice system is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend civil court hearings for Order for Protection, Harassment Order, and criminal court proceedings as needed.
- Provide clients with advocacy, support and understanding of the court process.
- Safety plan with client before, during and after court.
- Maintain confidentiality, boundaries and professional ethics while representing client and agency.
Training will be provided.
