Goals of the position
To assist the Taysia Blue Siberian Husky Rescue Foster Director by providing one-on-one training for new fosters with TBSHR.
Reports to:
Foster Director and/or Foster Co-Director/Medical Director
Collaborates With:
- Foster Intake Coordinator
- Foster Logistics Coordinator
- Foster Mentoring Manager
- Adoption team
- Other members of TBSHR as needed
Schedule and time commitment: Varies
Location of work: At home-administrative tasks; on-site at foster’s homes in the greater Omaha area
Core responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one training for new fosters, which may include (but is not limited to the following):
- How to kennel/crate train a reluctant dog
- Basic dog handling-leashing, walking
- Medication/preventive medication routine/distribution
- Understanding dogs’ body language and how to manage the dog
- What to do if dog is lost/runs away
- Work with Foster team to coordinate rescue dog arrivals and transfers
- Administrative tasks-document training, etc.
- Qualifications:
- Completion of TBSHR Volunteer Orientation
- Completion of TBSHR Foster Training Preferred Skills:
- Experience with one-on-one training, or willing to learn
- Basic dog handling skills or willing to learn
- Basic computer skills

Our Mission: Taysia Blue Rescue strives to save lives by keeping Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes out of shelters. We provide them the with medical attention, socialization, exercise, food and a safe place to live with volunteer foster families until we can find them forever homes.
Description
Who we are: Taysia Blue Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are a family of volunteers and advocates dedicated to helping local Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and their guardians. We are funded solely and supported by, the generosity of individuals and corporations in our communities. All of our dogs are located in approved foster homes in the metro areas of Omaha, Lincoln, Kansas City, Des Moines and Denver. Taysia Blue does not have a physical building and does not have set hours of operation.
