Wild Sun Rescue Center rescues, rehabilitates and releases wildlife of the Nicoya Peninsula. We take in injured, sick or orphaned mammals as well as certain birds and reptiles. We also aim to tackle the roots of problems facing our wildlife today. That means fighting wildlife electrocution in Costa Rica and breeding and reintroducing locally extinct species. Breeding and releasing Scarlet Macaws is in the works, but we're also researching the reintroduction of Spider Monkeys and 3 toed sloths.
We have several volunteer positions available, all centered around wildlife rescue and rehab operations.
Our internship is reserved for 1 person at a time and includes free room and board for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. Although anyone can apply, ideally this is a person over 25 years of age with previous animal husbandry experience or academic studies in biology or veterinary medicine.
We then offer short term and long term volunteer opportunities with a minimum 2 week commitment. More information can be found on www.wildsunrescue.org.
