Background
Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW) is excited to offer a new drop-out prevention program for refugee and immigrant students called the Successful Futures Program. The program supports the academic success and well-being of youth participants through weekly workshops to develop school and life skills. By introducing students to community resources and strengthening their support system, we hope to keep refugee and immigrant youth on a successful path toward graduation and beyond!
Schedule & Commitment
LCSNW is seeking 4 Youth Program Support Volunteers to offer classroom support during weekly summer program sessions at the LCSNW office in SeaTac. Volunteers will be expected to attend one session per week starting January 8, 2018 through June 5th, 2018. Volunteers can choose to join weekly sessions on the following day:
Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 PM (middle school students)
Thursdays from 2:00 to 4:00 PM (high school students)
Responsibilities
Youth Program Support Volunteers will assist the lead teacher with the following duties:
- Provide individualized and small group support to students with low English levels
- Assist with facilitating group activities
- Promote a positive and encouraging classroom environment
- Empower students to feel confident in themselves and prepared for successful futures
