We are a non-profit agency that specialilzes in providing employment for ex-offenders. As part of our program they complete a computer literacy course. We are in need of a volunteer to montitor this course and provide assistance when necessary. This is a self-study class, but some participants require guidance. Basic computer knowledge (desktop, Word, e-mail, internet) is a must. Experience with writing resumes is a plus, but not a requirement.

There are several time blocks in which we need assistance with monitoring the computer literacy time. Monday's times are 9-11a and 2-4pm. Tuesday's time is 9-11a. Wednesday's time is 11a-2p. Thursday's times are 11a-1p and 3-5p. If you are able to help with any of those time frames, we would love to hear from you. Thank you so much for considering this volunteer opportunity.

Mission Statement

T.O.U.C.H. (Teaching Opportunity Unity by Connecting Hearts) serves at-risk and vulnerable populations in Central Ohio. Our mission is to "reach out and touch" the lives of individuals and families, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency, positive relationships, and economic success. We help to restore communities by restoring lives.

Description

MCS (Metropolitan Community Services) was founded in 1984 to serve vulnerable populations in the Columbus area. In 2008, T.O.U.C.H. (Teaching Opportunity Unity by Connecting Hearts) joined MCS to provide mentoring and workforce development to formerly incarcerated men and women.

Originally focused exclusively on reentry, T.O.U.C.H. expanded its services to at-risk youth in 2010. Our agency now provides mentoring, workforce development, educational guidance, case management, and basic needs assistance both to low-income youth and to pre- and post-release adults.
