The CHOICE Board of Directors is responsible for oversight of finance, policy making, and the performance of the Executive Director. The Board is comprised of family members of people receiving services and business people interested in advancing the mission of CHOICE. The Board meets three to four times per year. Meetings typically last about two hours. Duties of the Board include:
- Attend scheduled board meetings
- Promote the organization's mission
- Review performance of the executive director
- Ensure effective organizational planning
- Review strategic plans and organizational goals
- Review and approve policy positions
- Participate in CHOICE special events
- Manage resources effectively
- Approve annual budget
- Review financial statements
- Review independent annual audit and required filings
- Communicate the activities of CHOICE
- Assess board’s own performance
