Please join us for our free quarterly Sexual Assault Advocate Training (SAAT).

We will be covering the OVC training and how it applies to Crisis Intervention:

  • What is Sexual Assault Advocacy?
  • Realities of Sexual Assault
  • Campus Sexual Assault
  • The Neurobiology of Trauma and Sexual Assault
  • Effects of Sexual Assault on Males
  • Procedures in Common Advocacy Situations
  • Recovery Education and Skills Training
  • Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care
Additionally, we will be training on the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) model and how it applies to Crisis Intervention.

Requirements for Training:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
  • Complete the application.
  • Volunteer must consent to and successfully complete a full background investigation pursuant to NRS 179-180 et seq., which includes a criminal history check and fingerprinting.
  • Complete the pre-test.
  • Complete and pass the post-test (72%).
  • Be present for 90% of the training.
  • Commit to six months on the Crisis Intervention Responder Team.
  • Agree to take 4 (6) hour on-call shifts a month (Subject to change).

Description

Crisis Intervention is our 24-hour rape response services offered to Lake County, IN. This program will provide the sexual assault victim the opportunity to have the support of a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate present prior to and during all medical and legal proceedings and throughout the entire legal and healing process.
