Become an Hermanitas Mentor today!
Positively impact a young Latina and give back to your community by becoming a Mentor in the Hermanitas Program.

Mentor a young Latina through MANA de San Diego's Hermanitas Youth Leadership Mentor Program. The Hermanitas Program is a one-on-one mentoring program that encourages young Latinas to pursue higher education and exposes them to new educational opportunities and careers. The Hermanitas Program serves middle to high school low-income Latina students who will be first generation colleges students and some will be the first in their family to graduate high school.

We are recruiting about 60 women to serve as mentors. The requirements are:

-must be at least 20 years of age,

-current college students or college/university graduates

-commit to a full academic year (August to June)

-attend monthly Saturday seminars from 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM

-drive Hermanita to and from seminar

-complete monthly Mentor Logs

-pass background check (paid by MANA)

-become a MANA de San Diego member ($30 reduced fee with full membership benefits)

Description

Founded in 1986, MANA de San Diego’s mission is to empower Latinas through education, leadership development, community service, and advocacy. This is accomplished through Hermanitas(r) Youth Leadership Mentor Program for middle to high school Latina students; MANA de San Diego Scholarship Program; and educational and professional development programs such as the Latina Success Conference and Latina Success Leadership Program. MANA has more than 400 annual volunteers who coordinate programs, activities, and reach out to the community to raise awareness.
