Are you looking for something that will change your life?

Are you seeking a way to give back within your community?

Do you desire an opportunity to providing comfort to others?

HarmonyCares Hospice is seeking people who desire to make a difference!

This opportunity is life changing! Life changing for the hospice patient and their families, but also for the Volunteer.

HaromonyCares Hospice’s team knows the benefits of caring for hospice patients. We are honored to be a part of this final journey, building relationships, and assisting with carrying the load.

HarmonyCares Hospice provides superior patient care wherever the patient resides, whether in the home or a facility. Therefore, Volunteers will travel to visit their hospice patient friends.

This is a long term commitment, requiring at least one year duration, but are eager to maintain Volunteers for much longer. Once a patient-Volunteer relationship begins, the Volunteer needs to see the patient through his/her entire journey. This allows the Volunteer to be a friend to the end while meeting the unique needs of our hospice patients.

HarmonyCares Hospice provides specialized Hospice Volunteer training after which Volunteers are able to provide companionship, caregiver/family member breaks, special projects, and more.

If you want to be a part of this rewarding experience, contact the HarmonyCares Hospice Volunteer Coordinator today at 616-432-2050!

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. It is a program for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. The hospice philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. The goal of hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. Hospice care can also be provided in a long-term care facility or an assisted living facility
