Thomas the Tank Engine is coming back to Burnet on the 2018 Big Adventures Tour!
If you like working with people and love kids, this is the assignment for you! The Austin Steam Train Association, an organization run by 90% volunteers, is bringing back that lovable children's character, Thomas the Tank Engine to Burnet September 28th - 30th. Last year we had over 16,000 people ride the train, visit with Thomas' friends, listen to stories, and engage in a myriad of children activities and entertainment. It was busy and a lot of fun!
We are looking for outgoing individuals that enjoy reading to children to join our volunteer team as a Day Out With Thomas Storyteller! Storytellers are stationed in our Storytelling tent and read provided Thomas the Tank Engine stories to the children every 30 minutes. The second half of the hour, storytellers are in charge of playing provided Thomas the Tank Engine DVD's for the kids.
All volunteers receive a t-shirt to wear at the event, a lanyard, and have access to drinks and snacks while volunteering. For every shift volunteered, you will earn a voucher for a free ticket on a Hill Country Flyer!
Morning and afternoon shifts are available each day. (7am-1:15pm & 12:45pm-7pm) All the fun takes place at the Burnet Community Center in Burnet, TX.
Come take a part in this yearly tradition with the Austin Steam Train Association!
We welcome group volunteers!
