PA:LS for Healing

P.A.L.S. for Healing is a nonprofit mental health organization dedicated to providing education, art therapy, EMDR and other trauma informed therapies to help people who have suffered trauma and/or loss and positively impact overall health. Individuals can experience trauma from direct AND indirect exposure to an event(s) that leaves them with feelings of helplessness, terror and loss of safety. Some of these experiences can include divorce, having an incarcerated parent, being in the foster care system, rape, serving in the military, having a family member in the military, responding to crisis situations, domestic violence, bullying, childhood abuse and neglect, the death of a loved one and natural disasters. P.A.L.S. for Healing has three locations within Cuyahoga County and provides offsite group and individual services within Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Summit counties. We also provide professional workshops and trainings for individuals and organizations. Please visit the website at palsforhealing.org to learn more.

You’re invited to come work with a group of dedicated and motivated people in a growing organization. The selected interns/volunteers will have the opportunity to work from home independently with 2 or in office hours weekly with guidance from the organization's Executive director and volunteer coordinator.

If selected, candidate may choose to take this position as volunteer. This is a NON-PAID position

Location: 6100 Oak tree Blvd. STE 200 Independence, OH 44131 and virtual.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact insurance companies, contractors and partners
  • Maintain medical billing submission
  • Collaborate with staff and contract staff on scheduling
  • Maintain office budget and purchasing under advisement of the Executive Director
  • Budget and financial auditing/reviewing
  • Data entry
  • Accounting
Qualifications
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets
  • Record keeping skills (for admissions and marketing)
  • Proficient in Quickbooks non-profit and excel
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations
  • Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to work productively from home

Description

P.A.L.S. for Healing provides cutting edge mental health services that are trauma informed, including EMDR, Art Therapy, Crisis Response, Trauma Informed Substance Use Therapy and SITCAP. We have three locations within Cuyahoga County and provide offsite group and individual services within Cuyahoga and Summit counties. We also provide professional workshops and trainings for individuals and organizations.
