The County of Orange Human Resource Services Learning & Organizational Development division builds organizational and individual capability to support engagement and overall organizational health and effectiveness, resulting in the County’s ability to serve the needs of the citizens of Orange County making it an ideal place to live, work, and play.

Intern Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update print layout using InDesign for participant guides as part of leadership development programs.
  • Edit or create graphic images using Illustrator or Photoshop to be incorporated as part of presentations and print products.
  • Develop marketing materials for email communications.
  • Design and update internal website to support ease of access and user-friendly interface.

Educational Requirements:

The internship is best suited for college students or recent graduates who have completed coursework and/or gained experience in graphic or digital design.

Skills, Training or Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience using digital/graphic design for print layouts, presentations, or marketing.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm and an interest in designing print and digital material to support learning effectiveness, applying design concepts in an applied setting.
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop is preferred, but not required, as long as the intern selected has similar experience with other media programs and demonstrates the desire and ability to learn the programs referenced above during the internship.

Time Commitment:

Flexible schedules are available that consist of 10 - 30 hours per week for 8 - 12 weeks. Hours must be scheduled during regular business hours (Monday - Friday between 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Interns able to schedule the maximum hours/duration listed for the internship typically gain a more in-depth experience.

Additional Information:

In addition to the application requirements that can be accessed at the link listed below, prospective interns must provide a portfolio or examples of their graphic/digital design work and contact information for two professional references.
