Guiding Light Hospice offers specialised care for the terminally ill and their family. We have openings for volunteers to go to patients home or work in the office. Our philosophy is to promote comfort care to the patient and family. With the patient and family regarded as the unit of care, hospice programs offer a number of different services to meet their various needs. We also need volunteers to make blankets, stuffed animals, cards and various other crafts to be given to the patient for comfort care. Some families will need a volunteer to sit with the patient while they take a break or run errands. Some volunteers prefer to help in other ways such as cleaning or cooking. We are also looking for individuals who are willing to mow a lawn, shovel snow during the winter, or help decorate a home for the holidays. In the office, volunteers can help with bereavement mailings, setting up new patient care packages, filing, and other various activities. We offer training and full support to the volunteers.

Description
For most people, learning that a loved one has a terminal condition creates anxiety, fear and apprehension. Family members may have trouble providing the support needed at such a critical time. Guiding Light Hospice, Elko's newest hospice with 24-hour care and support, when care is needed most. The trained physicians, registered nurses, licensed social workers, and bereavement counselors work as a team to promote peace and comfort during the final days. The aim of the hospice team is to make your loved one's remaining time as comfortable and as meaningful as possible. Guiding Light Hospice is here to help.
