ABOUT US
Women In Comedy is a fun and positive organization helping to achieve gender equality for women's voices in the comedy industry.
If you have a passion for gender parity and you like to laugh, come be part of a fun committee to help plan 3 key events for women in the industry (August, December, February). No professional comedy experience needed. All are welcome to volunteer with us - including female identifying persons, and men!
THE EXPERIENCE FOR YOU
This committee member role is a resume builder and a wonderful opportunity for someone with skills in the areas listed below - or someone looking to gain new experience and skills in the realm of event planning for a fledgling non profit. You will be part of building the foundation of this organization. Our committee is a diverse group of fun women who are working in tandem with our chapter cities across the nation (Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Washington D.C.) to create 3 key events per year- These are in person events to support women in the comedy industry.
SKILLS DESIRED
Experience in Leadership Roles/Strong leadership abilities
Passion for gender equality
Passion for organization/spreadsheets/following deadlines/timelines
Ability to inspire others and be part of a cohesive group
Passion for comedy
Experience in event planning (any area - corporate, bridal, etc welcome)
TIME COMMITMENTS
This volunteer role requires about 5 hours per week. 2-3 hours per week will be dedicated to in person weekly meetings with the committee on Tuesdays. The remainder of the hours can be spent at your leisure so long as tasks are completed on time.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Event Planning Committee Member role is a part time volunteer position responsible to carry out our mission statement to empower, connect, and advocate for women and girls seeking paid careers in comedy. The committee is responsible for making decisions, planning and executing all 3 events and supporting the committee president in all tasks.More opportunities with Women In Comedy

Women In Comedy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 headquartered in the comedy mecca of the United States - Chicago, IL. Our organization runs solely on volunteer efforts and donations. We are an inclusive organization providing free and low-cost resources to womxn across the country. Our motto is "Connect, Empower, Advocate."
