Volunteer with the Arizona Child and Adolescent Survivor Initiative (ACASI)

Research finds that children who have a stable and consistent relationship with a caring adult:

  • Benefit from the protective factor it provides
  • Are assisted with building resiliency
  • Experience better outcomes in the healing process

ACASI Volunteer Mentor Activities:

Activities with the child may include simply listening, attending community events, helping with homework, or playing in a park.

What makes a good mentor?

  • Ability to see solutions and opportunities
  • Flexibility

We currently have a strong need for Male and for Bi-Lingual Spanish speaking Mentors.

Mission Statement

The Family Violence Institute (FVI) at Northern Arizona University has implemented a new victim services project called The Arizona Child and Adolescent Survivor Initiative (ACASI). ACASI's mission is to deliver a multi-county, trauma-informed system of care to provide specialized victim services and support to children who have lost a parent to intimate partner homicide (IPH).*

Volunteer with the Arizona Child and Adolescent Survivor Initiative (ACASI)

Nearly 3,000 children per year in the United States lose a parent to intimate partner homicide. These child survivors often need mentorship from adults who can be there for them.
Research finds that children who have a stable and consistent relationship with a caring adult:

  • Benefit from the protective factor it provides
  • Are assisted with building resiliency
  • Experience better outcomes in the healing process
