Drew Farm
Drew Farm at Drew Transition Center in Detroit, Michigan. A Detroit Public School that serves 16-28 year old with cognitive and physical impairments. The farm is 2 acres and is a work based training site for students. All food grown is distributed to school cafeterias in Detroit and sold at student led farm stands. In 2015 over 20,000 pounds of food was grown! Thank you for your support!

Detroit Public School Community District will be hosting a Summer Festival at Drew Farm, our district's 2.5 acre food production and education farm site located at Drew Transition Center.

The day will include lots of hands on activities and resources related to healthy eating, nutrition, and health and we are seeking volunteers to make the day a success!

Volunteer Needs Include:

Greeters (10)

Activity Station Leaders (10)

Apple, Corn, and Tomato Costume Characters (3)---kids will love you! : )

Registration Table (4)

Time Shifts: *Please arrive 15 min before your shift for a brief orientation

9:30-11:00am

11:00-1:00pm

1:00-3:00pm

3:00-4:00pm- clean up crew (10)

Description

Operated through the Office of School Nutrition, the Detroit School Garden Collaborative runs a 2 acre food production farm that provides fresh produce for school cafterias. In 2015 we grew over 20,000 pounds of food. Additionally we have 82 active school gardens with trained teachers and a standards approved school garden curriculum. We have also recently gained the opportunity to restore Catherine Ferguson, a 2 acre school farm site in Detrot.
