Job Title: Patient Support Volunteer

Work location: Volunteers can work in multiple locations. You can even volunteer in the the county you live in!

Purpose of Position: Hospice is a unique benefit. It is a specialized type of care to help you, and your loved one, take control of your life and your disease. Kindred Hospice believes that every moment matters. We believe in dignity and respect for each patient we serve, and we believe in helping patients make the most out of their life. Volunteers help provide important services to our patients. They can be with our patients when our clinical staff can’t be.

Some typical responsibilities and duties are:

-Being a comforting and supportive presence

-Engaging in patient hobbies, playing board games, playing cards, or discussing current events

-Running errands or light housekeeping for the patient and family

- Encouraging patients to tell their life story

-Providing time for the caregiver to take care of him or herself

Qualifications: Volunteers must be positive, honest, and out going

Commitment: At Kindred Hospice, you will be given the choice of how much time you want to volunteer and how you share your talents. Volunteers are never asked to do anything they are not comfortable doing.

Training: Training is provided. Also, Manager of Volunteer Services is available for questions and assistance when needed. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to visit our patients and they must be willing to submit to a TB testing, drug testing, and a criminal background check.
