ORGANIZATION: INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF THE RAINBOW GIRLS

IORG

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girl’s greeting card project helps bring joy and celebration to some of our frailest and most isolated seniors. Every card is designed and created by you, our volunteers. Often, this card is the only recognition a senior receives on his or her birthday.

Making a card is easy and fun! Whether you’re looking for something to do on a rainy day, or planning an activity for your synagogue youth group, all you need is a bit of paper, a few pens, and a little imagination. Be sure to use colored paper for the outside, but white for the inside to make it easier to read.

Tips:

  • The card you create should be able to fit into a 6x9 standard envelope.
  • Write in large block (print) letters. As people get older, many have a hard time
  • reading small print.

Who may volunteer:

We do limit volunteering to girls within the age range of 11-20 and accompanying parents/guardians, grandparents and siblings only. While we appreciate adult volunteer requests we have recieved, we typically only take adult volunteers from our pool of parents and majority members who have been background screened as a safety precaution for the girls.

How often we meet:
Meetings are held twice a month in Ventura, Ca and volunteer and fun events are held throughout Ventura County approxamately 1-3 times a month

What our organization can do for you;
Provide unique volunteer opportunities planned by the girls
Provide fun events, theme parts, more
Give you lifelong "sisters"
Increase self confidence
Provide a safe and rewarding environment
Scholarship opportunities
Positive mentors
Teach public speaking
Teach leadership skills

More!

Scholarships / Service Hour Verifications for Schools
We are happy to provide service hours for school requirements, scholarships and applications. As we get to know the girls, many adults end up writting letters of recommendations for these young ladies. The leadership positioins, service hours and involvement also look great on college applications.
