Looking to spend your free time doing something worh while? Wanting to make a difference in a youth's life, but don't know how? Become a a tutor! This is a fantastic opportunity for future educators, college students any one who works with the public to make a difference in someone's life!

The Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation is looking for volunteers to help tutor our upcoming cohort for YouthBuild. This is a federal grant through the Department of Labor and works with youth ages 18-24 earning their GED. The program is 27 weeks and covers four academic subjects: Language arts, science, math and social studies.

This program helps invigorate youth in academics and helps develop skills youth will need to be successful in real life. For example, YouthBuild works with students' skills job-readiness, financial literacy and to help students be prepared for future careers through job shadowing or internships.

Through the Grand Rapids Center of Community Transformation's Mentoring Program, you will be matched with one youth who you will spend a minimum of 4 hours a month with for a year. You will be given the opportunity to participate in community service projects together, work on job skills, look into completing high school and higher education, as well as have fun exploring Grand Rapids!
